Six string bass viol after anon 1649

This is a bass viol after an anonymous English instrument of 1649 owned by Dr. Lucy Robinson in Cardiff. It is a great all-round instrument for solo and continuo playing. The neck of the original has been replaced, but I have found 70 cm to work very well. I have also made this instrument with a slightly shorter neck of 69 cm and 67.5 cm for players with smaller hands. It has a five piece bent front and is available with a carved head or scroll, and a variety of purfling decorations.
